Character Name: Sors Zanzibar XIII
Character Race and Patron God: Litus. Atheist.
Appearance: Large beard, fairly lean, stands 6"2'.
Backstory (Please explain your character's life, show how they act, why they act as such.): Living near a seaport majority of his life, Zanzibar was always meeting new people. This was further amplified by his father owning a medical clinic, and interacting with the people his father did business with. He was often bored with his life, gazing out to the sea and wishing he could leave to explore the area beyond the petty area he called home.
His mother contracted a terminal disease when he was young, and in disbelief there was nothing to be done about it, threw out all ideas about the existence of gods, and has never seen a reason to believe in them since, and thinks all who follow them are blind imbeciles, who waste their lives on beliefs of nothing.
Years after, he finally snapped from the monotony. He had decided that he would stow-away onto a trade ship, not caring where it took him, only that it was relieving him of his wretched boredom. Leaving a clearly written note on his father's bedside, he entered into the ship
The Foul'st Lady in the dead of night, via an open cargo crate that was carried in by a crewman. Several hours after this, he opened the side of the container, tumbling out into a dark cargo hold. He blindly felt around the room, and eventually came upon a cold doorknob, to which he turned with chills. After opening the door, he noticed a small room containing a table, chair, and a bed with a sleeping man on it. Glancing to the table, he saw it lined with charts and maps. Since he had no clue of where he was or his destination, he took a seat at the table, completely oblivious now to the man sleeping, and began looking over the maps. Minutes later, the man stirred awake, and in a half-dazed state yelled "WHAT ARE YE DOIN' IN MAH SHIP!?", and Zanzibar quickly retorted in an undeterred manner "Looking over your charts, sir." The man then continued to query him about himself and how he got on the ship. He remarked on Zanzibar's interest in the charts and maps, and asked him if he'd like to assist him in being the ship's cartographer. Zanzibar gratuitously agreed. He continued to live on the ship for several years, discovering new places at every destination they docked. This was however, short lived, as the ship wrecked during a violent hurricane. Thankfully, it had wrecked near a port, however, majority of the crew had died, leaving Zanzibar without a ship, or any companions. He reached land, finding out that he was back at his original starting point, and accordingly sobbed quietly in the attic of his father's clinic.
What are your character's skills and weaknesses: Skills: Good navigator, 'traveler', is sparsely knowledgeable with medicine. Weaknesses: Impatient, often becomes foolhardy and stubborn.
Example RP (Create a situation and roleplay it out.) Zanzibar is pinned to a wall, being questioned and violently insulted by to devoted followers of the gods who found out Zanzibar does not believe in any. "You're a godless heathen!" "That doesn't give you the right to put me against the bloody wall!" "Tell me why we shouldn't just skin you alive right now, and save the gods the trouble of deciding what to do with ya'." "Because you don't know if the eh.. Gods will that..? Yes.." *one of the men turns to the other* "He's got a point, but that doesn't excuse him from being a nonbelieving son of a--" *Zanzibar uses the brief moment while the man is turned away to attempt to wrench himself free* "Wha..?" *the man turns back to face Zanzibar, only to do so as Zanzibar attempts to headbutt him* *the man is hit in the head, and retracts his hand from pinning Zanzibar to recuperate, allowing for a moment of escape* *Zanzibar attempts to run* *Zanzibar is grabbed by the other man, who then throws him to the ground* "You're not getting away that easily, you cur!" *the man kicks Zanzibar in the chest* "Look what you did to Aaz here? He's got a bleeding head wound now!" *Zanzibar says in gasps* "Yes, I probably gave.. Him a concussion.." *the man turns to the other* "Come on, we'll get you to a doctor, we'll come back for him later.." *the two men walk away, scowling at Zanzibar as they do so*
